The 2nd annual
"King of the Board" tourney was held at Horseshoe Billiards in
April of 2004. The same format |
| |
as 2003 was used in
2004. The top 16 ranked players in
the Twin Ports assembled to compete in double |
| |
elimination to see who
would be King and who would be Queen.
The level of competition was much higher in 2004 |
| |
due to the substantial
number of people raising their MPR's over the last year. Familiar faces didn't qualify this year |
| |
due to newcomers such as
Mark Pundt, Tom "Max Hardcore" Dolan, Paul Switzer & Jemal
making their way into |
| |
the
top 16. The field could have been
stronger if the "Great One" Brett Holinday and his brother, Scot,
could have |
| |
graced
the event with their appearance.
Several questions had to be answered:
"Would Sturm repeat?", |
| |
"Could Smitty
remove the 'Queen' title that had been bothering him for a full year?",
"Could Tom Hardcore stay |
| |
sober for the whole
event?", "Pundt, Rehnstrand, Roberts…. will one of these guys step
up?", "Roger Rose" |
| |
and others. The following are the results of the
tourney: |
